Venice Accom. - HELP !

Going to Venice next year & trying to decide on a hotel. At the moment considering Westin Europa Regina & Hotel Danieli. Great Canal View really important. Any advice on which hotel better or any others...
(Europa & Danieli quite exy but looking for that something special... )
thanks,

Those are two of the top hotels in Venice, you can't go wrong. The E-R overlooks the Grand Canal, the Danieli overlooks the mouth of the Grand Canal where it joins the lagoon.

I personally prefer the location of the E-R as it puts me closer to the Accademia Bridge, but that's me.

I should have added, if you are willing to consider overlooking a small canal, the Colombina is a very very pretty hotel in a great location near the Piazza. It is not in the same category as the Danieli and E-R, but it is pretty, relatively new, has all services, reasonably-sized rooms, and much less expensive than the others you mention. I have not stayed there, but I have inspected it.

be careful about ensuring that the Danieli puts you in a room in the old building. they tend to put all the regular rate reservations in the new building which is a far cry from the rooms and atmosphere of the old building. I prefer the Danieli to Europa and Regina - but be sure to specify the room you want.

Thanks - good advice. Nothing worse than paying the extra to gaurantee what you what and then not get it anyway.
