vacation package to Italy

I'm trying to plan a two week trip for my father and his wife as a surprise birthday present. I want to send them to Rome, Venice and Florence. Does anyone know of a good travel package or company that can put together a good package. Budget is about $4000. Thanks!

My mother has used packages for Italy, and recommends Perillo. Is that budget figure for both people? I think you ought to be able to do it for that figure.

You must be an excellent child. Hope mine will do the same for me someday.

thanks for the tips. any other thoughts out there. vacationstogo.com looks like just cruises? and I don't want to send them on an escorted tour.

Take a look at www.go-today.com and check out their Italy packages. You can get an air/hotel combo or an air/car package. Transfer from airport and breakfast are usually included. You can make or break the budget you've set by upgrading your hotels and/or adding on extras like tours.

Hi bk,

>... I don't want to send them on an escorted tour.<

In that case, I suggest that you do it yourself and save money.

Fly into Rome and out of Venice or VV.

3 nights Venice, five nights Florence (w/daytrips to Siena and Lucca/Pisa) and five nights Rome.

Train schedules and tickets at www.trenitalia.com.

See Trenitalia Tickets Online

For hotels search this forum for "(city name) AND hotel".

Sorry about the misunderstanding; read "package" but thought "tour." That said, I do believe that Perillo and maybe Donna Franca both have "Italy on your own" packages, with air, hotel and trains from Rome, Venice and Florence. These are not escorted tours.
