Tour Advice - Italy For FamousUncleArt
Thanks everyone for the good wishes when my Dad was sick. He is doing much better and is thinking of trying a vacation. He has not had much luck with home exchanges so he was thinking of going on his own. I was thinking that a tour would be good because it would hit all the highlights, but I am afraid that with him being so independent it would be difficult. So my question is what tours would be good for those of you who know him or should he just splurge and get hotels. The reason he picked Italy was that every time he sees Roman Holiday he wants to go there!

Hi Y,
>..what tours would be good for those of you who know him or should he just splurge and get hotels.<
From reading Unc's reports, I don't think that he would care for any scheduled tours.
In addition, tours usually cost more than DIY.
We will be happy to help him plan his visit to Italy.

Do you think he might going on his own but taking a few of those recommended tours while in Rome?
Actually, having read a few of your dad's reports, I can't see him doing that, either...
Where would he like to go in Italy? Has he been in the past? I'm not sure how well/spry he is feeling, but the train between the big cities is very, very easy.

Thanks, The people who know his traveling best are on this board. Since he is feeling better he wants to go away to celebrate. I was trying to look into some good deals. Beijing is really cheap now and I was trying to convince him to go there (799 + 200 single supplement) I will keep posting with ideas or an inexpensive way to go to Italy.

yeadonite; I have a girlfriend who took a train trip as a single traveler. She went from Denver to Spokane or somewhere on that order. She had a wonderful time, met many friendly fellow train travelers, was able to totally de-stress, stayed in some wonderful B&B's or small hotels arranged by the all inclusive trip. She thought it was one of the nicest forms of travel. Traveling by train in Canada; what a comfy way to see the country. Deborah
