Tour of Italy
I'm a solo female traveller who'd like to do a combo tour / independent journey of Italy this fall. Any suggestions on best tour operators? I'm 50, like to hike, love history and think that Rome, Florence, Pompeii are a must. I appreciate any ideas on ways to get started, get booked and get going! Thanks.

Hi M,
This is easily done on your own.
See www.mobissimo.com and www.kayak.com for airfare.
See Helpful Information: Italy 2

For hotels, see www.venere.com.
After you have a draft itinerary, come back and we will help you refine it.
Are you leaving Venice out on purpose?

just quickly as I'm off to work,
cosmos tours, trafalger tours and globus tours all do tours of italy, among others!
cosmos has the option of no single supplement, but you do share a room with another traveller of the same sex!
another company that comes to mind is Insight!
hope this helps.
