Two-Three Hours in Downtown Milan - what to do?
We are taking the Eurostar from Rome to Milan and planning to spend the last night near Malpensa before flying home. My question is: would it be worthwhile to take an earlier train that would allow two to three hours sightseeing in central Milan before taking the shuttle to the airport? Is it still possible to store our luggage at Milano Centrale station? What would be the major sights we could easily navigate within this time span?

We were just there and it's definitely worth it! YOu can store your bags at Malpensa (3 euro I think), go straight outside, the big red M sign takes you down the escalator to the clean easy to use Metro. 1 euro each, hop on for a quick 2 min ride to the Duomo stop. Get out, walk around the Duomo, just amazing. Go inside, the most beautiful church I've seen after 2 wks touring Italy (hubby ranked Westminster Abbey above it but I haven't seen that yet!). Take the elevator up to the roof and walk inside the spires and view the city. I think it closes at 5pm so plan accordingly. Walk away from the Duomo towards the Castel Sforza, nice shopping and an easy walk. That'll easily fill up 3 hours. We had a 10am flight out of Malpensa and stayed in Milan at hotel speronari, clean , nice, right by the Duomo, only 88 euro for 2 adults with private bath. This way we had the evening to walk around and have dinner and not be stuck in the middle of nowhere by the airport. Another option for you maybe. Enjoy!
