triple room in York convenient to train

Any recommendations for a nice room for 3 adults (DH, daughter and me) in York. Only staying 1 night in March and would like something convenient to the train station. The Royal York has gotten some very bad reviews on tripadvisor, dirty and too hot (in winter!). 80 pounds or less preferred.

Sorry. Just realized we will have to pay extra for a triple, maybe up to 100 pounds?

Thanks LynnieD, Chelmsford not available. We are staying in a room with 3 beds at the Best Western Monkbar Hotel for 160 pounds. More than we wanted to pay but I got tired of looking. <smile> Will post with report after our trip.

We (kid, myself and wife) at a place called York Backpackers. It was a hostel and very nice and cheap. If you are only staying one night I wouldn't spend alot of money for a hotel but that is just me. We got a family room for really cheap. It is right near the train station and train museum.

Too bad you didn't let us know that your criteria of being near the train station wasn't firm. There are lots of B&Bs/guest houses in Bootham for under £100 that are as close to the train station as is Monk Bar.

Thanks to all who posted. Sorry Ron, I ran into trouble as we wanted to stay just 1 night on a Saturday and I learned that many B&B's and hotels require 2 nights on a weekend. Also, I needed to book train tickets before prices went up and needed to be sure we could leave York on Sunday. That's why I cut my search short.
