Since discovering this board, I have obsessively spent every spare online moment reading these enchanting trip reports. Wow, tripgirl...what an incredible job you did with both organizing a special vacation for all of your travel group, AND reporting back here so we could all share in the memories with you. Its late, and I'm soon off to sleep, to dream of a future (hopefully no too distant!) trip to the Amalfi Coast...

Tripgirl,
So I think I have it pretty much all planned out. DCA to NY Kennedy to Rome on Delta. Three nights at the Quisisana in Capri, then 5 nights in Positano (still choosing between two places to stay) and two nights in Rome.
Loved your report...definitely nailed down that this is the area I want to visit. Funny that you just returned from Croatia as that was another possibility on my list. Look forward to your report.

Your choice of lodging is great. The Quisi bar we loved!!!! The Quisi as a hotel is just fab, you'll adore it.
As you know we stayed at the sister hotel, the wonderful Casa Morgano, but you have the tippy top of the cream of the crop for your lodgings, bravo!!!
Your plans sound good, good for you!!
Let me know how else I can be of help. (pack alot of euros, the shops in Capri are killers......)

You can help me with this: Should I choose a villa or hotel in Positano??? If I choose a villa, they are all 7 days so I will have to eat the cost of at least one night which sucks.
I am looking into the Hotel Marincanto which looks great and their suites have jacuzzi tubs. The Le Sirenuse looks great, but I have a hard time paying that much for "high" season when every other hotel in the area considers mid-October their low season. Not to mention, I want ultimate luxury, total relaxation in capri. But in Positano we want to move around and do side trips and that fun stuff, so I am fine with not being at the #1 hotel.
But any lodging advice you have for Positano would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Jeremy

Jeremy,
We did not stay in Positano, but rather Sorrento, for several reasons as I noted in this report.
But I did do a pretty thorough investigation into Positano hotels.
The ones I would consider staying myself if I did not choose Le Sirenuse:
I saw them all when we visited Positano
Palazzo Murat
Miramare
Villa Franca
Poseidon
The San Pietro we passed on our way through the drive, and it looks supreme, but I think that would be best if you do not intend to move around too much, it is outside Positano and I personally would want to stay at the hotel alot to soak it all in; so maybe not a good choice for you at this time.
Let me know if you need further help.

Hello Tripgirl: Thank you for taking the time to post such an informative and entertaining report. It was a delightful read and an enormous help in planning an upcoming trip to Capri.
I am going to post a separate, more general query on the forum about staying in Capri with a disability, but since you seem to be checking replies here, I thought I'd see if I could get some specific information from you about the Casa Morgano.
Your post mentions that this is a 6-7 minute walk into the center of Capri -- is this a walk that you think could be easily done by someone with a mobility impairment? To be more specific, my boyfriend is unable to bend one knee fully, and walks with a cane. He can walk quite a distance on level ground (and enjoys it) but inclines and stairs make it more challenging. We're certainly not expecting to find a perfectly flat surface anywhere in Capri, but would just like to get a sense of what degree of challenge he's in for before making a hotel decision. Any recollection you might have about the level of incline and/or number of steps between the hotel and center of town would be enormously helpful. In some places I've seen it described as an "easy walk"; in others, people have described the Via Tragara as being on a "steep hill" and accessible only via a "steep staircase" from the Via Camarello. Many thanks in advance for any assistance or insights you can provide.

Thanks for your question.
Casa Morgano is walked to formt he center in about 10 minutes. There is a slight uphill climb at one point. There are stairs going into the property, several to reach the hotel itself and then a set of marble ones at the top of the lobby.
There are hotels a bit closer in to the center, but we did not find the walk in any difficult. I know you described yor boyfriends ailment, but of course only you and him know what would be best for him.
I'm not sure if I have indeed been of any help, but in any case, if you decide on Casa Morgano as a property, you will love it.
