trenitalia help - fco to firenze?

I am trying to find correct timing for my trip from FCO - Termini Roma and from Termini Roma - Firenze.

I tried to put "FCO" for "Departure", but trenitalia is unable to find it.

Can airport train schedule be found on trenitalia?

Thanks

Bob.

Try Fiumicino as the departure station.

you need to use the FS station name "Fiumicino Aeroporto"

The FCO-Termini train is, essentially a commuter run that leaves every half hour or so both ways. The trip is about 30 minutes. +/- 8 euro.

I think they run constantly, but I cannot answer your question at this moment because the timetable function of trenitalia.com is temporarily out of order. But perhaps trying Fiumicino instead of FCO?

Best wishes,

Rex

Enter "roma aeroporto" as departing station.

I'm hoping you're trying the Italian version of trenitalia, because although others say it sometimes works, I can never get the English version to work. And when all else fails (and if you don't have to have the prices or actually buy the tickets) then go to the far more user friendly, but just as complete
www.reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
Even if it doesn't recognize your departure or arrival point it will give you alternate spellings or names to choose from.

Hi bob

You can find the schedule at http://www.trenitalia.com/en/. Enter "Roma aeroporto" and "Rome". The shuttle train to Roma TE leaves every 1/2 hr at :07 and costs 8.8E.

Do not take the train to Roma Tiburtina.

Ira, I know you meant to say "Firenze" not "Roma" for the destination.

But did you actually try doing this? I just did and as usual -- I get that message in Italian that says something about the central system is down, try later. That is the only message I've been able to get on the English part of trenitalia for weeks now. Has anyone actually been able to use the English part of that site for a long time??

Hi Patrick,

No, I meant to say Rome - I was just doing the shuttle.

Yes, I did try it. Use this link http://www.trenitalia.com/en/

OK, why did that work? I did have the site bookmarked for the English version and it wouldn't work. But typing in that address did work, even though it appeared as exactly the same page. The strangest part is, when I type in www.trenitalia.com and then bookmark it, the address reappears as www.fs-on-line. Then when I click on that bookmark, the site won't work for me, unless I remove the English and go back to the Italian version. I'm not very computer literate, but I can't figure out what's happening. No matter. Guess I can either type in it each time, or just be content using my German site.

The English version of trenitalia has not worked for at least two weeks. The Italian version didn't work a week ago because the ticket sellers were on strike.

Patrick, I agree about the bahn.de site being the most efficient, but I just use the designation www.bahn.de. and then scroll down to the button that says "eng."

Well, SantaChiara, Ira was right about it working today -- at least when I entered the site the way he said.

I keep the German site bookmarked all the way into the English so that as soon as I click my "European trains" favorite, it opens ready to enter the destinations.

Sorry, Patrick. I didn't read carefully enough to see Ira's response. Also good idea about the bookmark, except I have SO many bookmarks.

I know what you mean, SC. I'm testing my computer. Do you think when I hit 1000 bookmarks it will tell me stop already? At least I've finally started organizing them under headings. I can click European Hotels and up pop those 50 or so I've bookmarked, without looking at the whole list all the time.

Patrick,
My point exactly about bookmarks (and my are in folders, too.) That's why it is easier for me to type in simple bahn.de and trenitalia.it web sites (when the latter works, that is).

As an aside, I am watching an Italian talk show in real time about the deaths in Iraq today. Very sad.

Hi Patrick,
>Guess I can either type in it each time, or just be content using my German site.<

If you have Internet Explorer, you can add the www.trenitalia.com/eng to your favorites list or move it into your "links" line.

Also, IE will try to complete your URL for you. When I type in "www.tren" it gives me a menu that includes my desired URL.

OK, Ira. I still don't get it. I type that in. The working site comes up. I add to my favorites. I leave the site. I go back to my favorites, click the bookmark that says www.trenitalia.com/en and I get the site that doesn't work.
I remove that, type it in again, get the working site. I re -bookmark it. When I click the bookmark, I get the site that doesn't work. Sorry. I just don't get it.
