travel
My daughter is leaving for Europe in 2 weeks and still a decision has not been made about point to point vs eurail pass select. I really want her to enjoy this trip but have to watch the money. I still want to make it as easy for her as possible, I am afraid she has no idea of how much train time will be involved. She is starting in Germany in Osnabruck then Paris then Barcelona then Venice back to Marseilles then Amsterdam seems like endless travel. She needs to decide about Eurail soon.

Welcome! You will get better and more responses if you repost this with a more descriptive title. 'travel' gives us no idea about what your question might be so many will just skip. Also tag the countries involved because some people will just go by the country tag when they look at post...

Also look at flying between some cities. Those are a lot of loooong train journeys, and the budget airlines (Easyjet and Ryanir are the two main ones, but look at whichbudget.com for options) are sometimes cheaper than trains if you buy tickets early enough. Just beware of the extra fees for and restrictions on baggage - that's where they make a lot of their money, and they are often very strict about weighing bags. Also, the budget airlines tend to use smaller airports (Paris Orly instead of Charles de Gaulle, for example), so make sure the cost of getting to the airport is included in the calculations.

Indecision is costly. Both the budget airlines and the fast intercity trains raise prices as the day of travel gets nearer. Purchases made two months ago will look like bargains compared to what will be charged two weeks before travel.
