Hi<BR>I love the Flora, but rooms can run very small, so see if you can request one of their larger rooms

Was at the Amewrican last April. Very, very nice. Great quiet location. Make sure to ask for a newly renovated room.

We stayed at the American last August and liked it very much. We had a smallish (but NOT shoebox small) room NOT overlooking the canal. Very nicely decorated and the blue bathroom (small) obviously recently redone. Everything worked, from the air conditioning to the tv and the hairdryer & the plumbing. Staff friendly but not intrusive. Buffet breakfast (cold) plentiful & good. We'd stay there again. Location is hard to beat. Near the Accademia Bridge & vaporetto stop, but in a quiet area just within sight of the Grand Canal. Not in the noisy madness of San Marco summer crowds.
