I think you have (mostly) all solid choices (a few I simply don't know).

Consider checking each out on www.venere.com to get exact rates and availability. You could book and hold two of them as long as you cancel in June, for example, the one you don't want.

I find it useful to ask for a MAILED brochure - - sometimes gives you an idea how attentive, service-wise, the CURRENT management is. All of "us" can only report our experiences in the PAST.

Best wishes,

Rex
We just returned from Rome. We stayed at the Fontanella Borghese for four nights. The room was smallish, but very nice. Air conditioning was working at first, but they got it taken care of as fast as they could. It was quiet with the windows closed and the people who worked at the reception desk were very helpful and very friendly. The location is great - halfway between Piazza Navona and Spanish Steps, very close to all the expensive shops for window shopping. This was one of our favorite hotels in our month long stay in Italy.

I vote for Santa Chiara. We were very pleased with our stay there earlier this month. Location is great, staff wonderfully helpful, breakfast above average and we thought our room was fine. The shower was a phone booth, but with a little ingenuity we were able to stay clean!

j
