Three Star Hotels in Zermatt

Are most hotels in Switzerland per person, per night? I'm trying to find a three star hotel for a few nights but am finding most of the places are per person....making rooms fairly expensive. Any ideas?

I don't know what you want from a 3 star hotel but here is my experience of last June. Stayed at Hotel Primavera (try google search. they have a site together with its sister hotel, Excelsior). 2 star rated and located near Sunnegga(spell?)/Rothorn station, a quiet area. The hotel had no transfer service but only 10 minutes walk. No fancy room, no TV but otherwise quite alright. The best was we had a Matterforn view with a big window + a balcony large enough for two to sit after a day of hiking and was great to sip a few glasses of chilled wine watching Matterhorn till sunset. I found the the rate of sfr 150.- for our double room (not per person)including simple buffet breafast a great value. The rooms not facing Matterhorn were sfr30 cheaper.

Kelli -

When in Zermatt, we stay at the Hotel Biner, a three star hotel located five minutes by foot from the train station and about a 10-15 minute walk from the center of the village.

We really like this hotel - I just checked out their website and it indicates there is no additional charge for single rooms, so it looks like they may be able to help you out.

Their address is www.hotel-biner-zermatt.ch.

Hope this helps -

Good morning, Kelli Have used the
Schweizerhof ( 2 min from Bahnhof).
and the Monte Rosa (5 mins walk up the
main drag. The Hotel Julen has been
on travel sites last year and it is
in a good location just about two blocks
north of the church, 15 mins walk.
If you go to www.zermatt.ch you will
find a complete list of Zermatt hotels
along with a map to locate them.
Must make mention of the Bahnhof Buffet
located in the station, had a couple
of excellant Swiss meals..Also the China
Garden which was a change from the norm.
Richard of LaGrange Park, Il

But Richard, the hotels you mentioned are all 4-star rated and seem expensive to me.
