No - I'm done with Madrid. When on business there was nothing overwhelming - or anything in particular I now want to go back for. There are many other places in Spain I prefer to spend time.

I second Vienna.

Some of the places mentioned I wouldn't mind going back to because there was a good museum that I wouldn't mind seeing again but Vienna, nothing. A day and a half was quite enough.

i agree that zagreb was a bit bland..a bit mom and pop-ish

vienna...wouldnt necessarily go back but thats why headed out to the vineyard areas when we stayed there..great time up there...not drinking...walking the forest and little villages

split in croatia

mamcalice I so agree about Switzerland. Once you see the alps - that is it. Plus so so expensive.

Totally agree about Madrid. And Dublin. And Milan. Different strokes... my SIL's favourite city is Milan, but then she just likes shopping and drinking champagne. Not exactly a culture vulture.

First place I thought of was Dublin. And I agree that Madrid isn't quite what it's cracked up to be.

Disagree with others about, well, most of the ones mentioned so far. But especially Paris and Amsterdam. And we actually liked Zagreb more than we expected to. Go figure.

I think I would include

Brussels (except the Grand Place and the art museum)

Salzburg. Salzburg wasn't great to me - not bad, and the surrounding area is wonderful; the city itself was just OK.

Zurich

Bellagio - I was surprised at how small it was; there's not all that much there.

If "Meh" can mean, "ok, I'm glad I went once but don't care to return," then:

Paris, mostly. (Although if I got a chance to go with DD or a female friend, I might re-think this.) Loved the rest of France that DH and I visited (mostly Normandy area).

Barcelona

Brighton, England

Geneva
Cinque Terre

Concur with Philly Fan on Bellagio, although the getting there is quite nice. There is or used to be an all "lake fish" restaurant just outside which was fun.

Another vote for Rome.

Thank you all for this list.

I now realize that there is absolutely nowhere I would wish to visit.

"Brighton, England"

Much better as a place to live or visit friends than a place to visit as a tourist.

If you don;t go you won't know what your "meh" places are. And I've found only one in more than 100 trips (but not all to different places obviously).

I've been enchanted by some places we just fell on while driving - as well as a couple of places we put into a trip since it just seemed like a convenient place to stop for a night
