The Meh list - not great, not awful, just Meh

Ever notice that new travelers always list sights that no one ever returns to? Places with names more attractive than the place itaelf? I'm thinking visiting Rome's Spanish Steps or "strolling down the Champs Elysees." Not awful, not great, just meh.

Any additions?

"expressing a lack of interest or enthusiasm:" from the Simpsons (whoever they are), still who cares.

Don't smack me, but Paris just did nothing for me. Nice enough city, but it just never lived up to all of the hype. I may go back some day, to give it another chance, but no big desire to do so.

Munich didn't excite me either. Again, nice city, lots to do there, but it doesn't match the hype.

Glasgow
Blue mountains
Kuala lumpur.

Gravesend! You don't say!

I agree with Munich, better than I thought but no wish to return, or Germany in general.

There's nothing quite as bad as "not so bad."

Tell the Oktoberfest junkies about Munich.

Eiffel Tower up close except for people watching
Oxford Street in London
Inverness
Zagreb
The flat parts of the Veneto

Rome

I can't believe that someone put Rome on this list.
To me, it ranks up there with London as the most
interesting city in Europe.

Paris and Amsterdam

wanttogo - no doubt you have an intense dislike for a food, or book, or movie that some others love. Travel is no different but a surprising number of people seem to have difficulty appreciating the subjectivity of "place".

StCirq Oct 6th, 2013 06:51 AM

Piccadilly Square
The Plaka
Zürich

A few more:

The monocultural farm areas of Spain -- all cork or all olive trees for miles and miles
Resort hotels
The "Little Britain" parts of the Spanish coast, Marbella and nearby
Airports, the ones that are not actively horrible

Milan. Just got back and while the Duomo is beautiful we didnt think much of the rest. Wouldnt bother unless flying in or out of the city.
