Suppose to leave on the 24th, still no visa

Hello,

On may 30th i had an appointment at the consulat of France Chicago for a short stay visa in Paris for 2 weeks.

Appointment went well, lady told me it should take 2 weeks to get my response. It s been 3 weeks today and i took a 2 weeks vaccation off from work just for this. My vaccation starts on monday, but still don t know if i am going or not. I have called left my number and name, no response. I emailed them as well. I would like to know if it s refused at least so i could cancel the vacation i took.

Anybody had this type of issue before?

Please help!!

Thanks

Ps: I had all my documents with me at the appointment, i had everything they asked me to bring.

Is the consulate in Chicago too far away for you to go in person to ask?

There is usually nothing you can do to get information on when or if your visa will be issued. What seems to have happened is your application has been referred to France for further consideration because of your nationality and/or personal circumstances. No doubt you are an upright, law-abiding citizen, but perhaps reputation of some of your compatriots in the past has flagged up amber alert. If you are married to an EU or US national, that usually speeds up the process. If you are just on a work visa in US, then a delay is possible, unless if it's for business and your application is sponsored by your employer. As it's for a holiday, delay is quite unfortunate but understandable.

In case you were using a different phone number:

From the French Embassy in Chicago website:

8.1- I cannot reach you over the phone, what should I do ?
You can reach the Visa Section at 312 327 5229 from 02.00 to 04.30 pm from Monday through Friday.

Look at tom_mn's experience. Even when you do everything right, you can have problems with things like visas and passports.
