Stockholm Hotel

In July, we are taking a Baltic cruise that ends in Stockholm. We are thinking of staying a couple of extra days. Looking for recommendations for a hotel that is well located for sightseeing. Thanks

You don't mention your budget, but take a look at the Radisson Strand. It's on a canal/harbor and at the center of many areas of town. It runs about $300 US a night minimum but everything in Stockholm is pretty pricey. We found the Strand very comfortable and central.

Scandic Hasselbacken is located on Djurgarden where you'll find many of the museums. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel as well as a ferry a block away that will take you over to Gamla Stan,Old Town. Check TripAdvisor and Fodors' online HOTELS for Stockholm for more suggestons.

Thank you for those suggestions. I will check them out. On another site, I read about the Hotel Rival. Sounds like a fun place. Anyone have any information about it?

Hi TandE
As I live in Stockholm I never stay in hotels here so I can't say anything about the service or the rooms. But if I came to Stockholm as a visitor I would definitely pick a place with a sea view. The Strand recommended by JulieVikmanis has sea views but personally I would rather go for the Esplanade or the Diplomat Hotel, both with a central location and great sea views. Hotel Rival is in a fun area with lots of places to eat and/or drink not far from the old town (approx 15 minutes walk). It offers no sea views though but when walking from the Rival to the old town you will get, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful views Stockholm has to offer.

Hope you will find a nice hotel and that you will have a good time in Stockholm!
