Still need help in Venice!!

thank you for your advice on places to stay in Venice. However the La Calcina and the Lacanda Orseolo are booked. What about the Ca Gottardi or Ai Mori d'Oriente Hotel? Any other suggestions?

We booked Ca Bonvicini for 3 nights in June based on advice from this board. You can check out their website.

We stayed in Locanda Fiorita and enjoyed it. Great location off of the Piazza Stefano about 7 minute stroll to San Marco Plaza and about a 3 minute stroll to Academia Bridge.

Have you checked Pensione Accademia? We're staying there in June based on wonderful reviews here and on Trip Advisor. The location (on the Grand Canal next to the Accademia Bridge) in Dorsoduro is very convenient to St. Marks Square, the Guggenheim, Rialto etc.

I stayed at Ca'Gottardi for three nights in October 2004. The room is the most beautiful I've ever stayed in and I usually try to stay in a luxury hotel (for short stays). The location is right on Strada Nuova and very near the Ca' d' Oro vap stop. Bed comfortable, water hot and good shower pressure, continental breakfast was good but strictly continental (no eggs, meats, etc). The family that owns and runs the hotel are very reserved but helpful. This is truly a B&B so the hotel like services (room service) are not available. It's very low key and quite - you feel like there is no one else in the place. There are lots of postings on tripadvisor.com. You might also look into Foscari Palace which is located very close to Ca' Gottardi. The pricing is similar but this is a full scale lux hotel. I stayed here 6 nights in Nov '05 and can't wait to return! Also, lots of great reveiws on tripadvisor.
