Venice hotel = Ala or Montecarlo

I'm debating between Hotel Ala & Hotel Montecarlo in the San Marco area of Venice. I'm leaning more toward Ala, but just wanted to get any more info I could.
Thanks.

I know where the Ala is, and it is in a good location, but the Montecarlo is literally steps from San Marco. We did not stay there, but stayed at the Diana across the "street". We loved the location. I have never been in either, so I can't help you there.

We stayed at the Ala and loved it. There have been a number of recommendations for the Ala on this board, so do a search on it and you'll find them.

We also stayed at the Ala and loved it. The location is great - it is a 5-10 minute walk from San Marco, on a cute piazza. Many of the rooms look out on a small canal; very picturesque. The service is very pleasant and the breakfasts are good. The Ala is 2 minutes from a vaporetto stop. I highly recommend the Ala and would stay there again.
