Staying near Termini?

For my and hubby's first trip to Italy in early May- we have reservations for 4 nights at Residenza San Pantaleo - which seems to be in a very central area (Piazza Navona) and is very reasonably priced at 100Euro per night. I am using this right now as our back-up to Priceline.

I have been trying to use Priceline for central Rome for a 4* hotel - but have noticed that all the Priceline hotels are near Termini, which is less desirable, further away from sights, etc. I am wondering if it would be better to stick with our "back-up" - which is going to be less nice, but in a better area - or try to bid for a nicer hotel, in a less ideal area.

Opinions? Thanks in advance!

early May, 4 nights, 100 Euro/night, Near Piazza Navonna? WHY are you even looking for alternatives? A nicer hotel option matters when you are planning to spend time in the hotel using their facilities, but in Rome for only 4 nights you want to be in the mid of the action for easier access to the great sights. I'll say drop the hotel anxiety and concentrate now on the sightseeing.

WendyWhy, I searched google for the Residenza...The location is great, the price is excellent also..
Just enjoy Rome and like Chatter already said: enjoy the scenery and be happy to be in the Centro Storico.

A backup? Are you kidding? Hold onto it for dear life and get the idea of Priceline gambling and Termini out of your head!!
