Spoleto Hotels
Okay, I thought I posted this earlier, but apparently it didn't take, so here goes:
My parents are coming to visit me in Italy within the month, and they want to pass through Spoleto first on their way to Assisi from Rome. They are renting a car, and they want to get a hotel in Spoleto that is easy to find and has parking. I have looked in my Rough Guide and Lonely Planet, but both are not very specific for hotels with parking, so I have had little luck in my search. They did find online a hotel called Arco or something, and it had parking, but I have not seen it mentioned in the guidebooks I have.
Anyway, the question is: does anyone know of any good hotels in Spoleto with parking (and preferably within the town center)? Probably a price range would be 30-70 Euros a night (for a double room). Mostly they are searching for something easy to find and easy to park at that is relatively comfortable.
Thanks for the help!
Jackie

There's a great hotel in Spoleto, named the Gattapone, just above the town over-looking the Ponte Torre (if I remember the name correctly of the wonderful bridge/aquaduct spanning the valley). It may have been a little more expensive ... but a lovely accomodation within a short walk of the city center. There is plenty of parking, a quiet area, and the ponte, open to pedestrians, is illuminated at night.

Jackie: Check with the Hotel Clarici (3 stars) and the Hotel Due Porte (2 stars), both in Spoleto and both at the bottom of the hill, near the river, in Piazza della Vittoria. They are in an area of town which has parking. Also check with the Hotel Europa (3 stars), 50 yards from the train station of Spoleto. Your stated price range pretty much relegates you to a two star establishment.
Within the old walls, your best bets are the Hotel Aurora and the Hotel Il Panciolle, both two stars.

A terrific place to stay within the Old Walls of Spoleto is the Hotel Aurora, a two star property without air conditioning, with 23 rooms all with private bath. Rates are within your parents' price range. I would send them an e-mail to enquire about parking arrangements. This property is in a historic and charming area of town, better and more conveniently situated (for walking) than the hotels at the bottom of the hill.
