SPECIAL TREAT IN VIENNA

Hello
Many forum members have been very generous with their knowledge of Vienna and Austria when I sought information prior to my daughter's departure on university exchange from Sydney.

She is loving Vienna, has travelled around Austria and is loving the snowy winter. Shortly she will be joined by her new fiance.

I wanted to organise a special treat after so long in the student digs etc - say a stay at a really good hotel and a spa treatment.

The likes of the Bristol are waaay over my budget but would like a hotel which is 'plush' and has all the self-indulgence amenities including a spa ( or one located near by for a facialor massage)

Any suggestions??

Look at the Ring Hotel- just across the Ringstrasse from its famous sister hotel The Grand - less expensive - modern decor and wellness facilities- they often have spoeials

The Ring advertises a special rate until the end of February -- 189 E/ nt. But when you check availability, for every date I tried it said "not available". Next lowest rate is about 340 E.

The Meridien, which I hugely admired when I stayed there, is hip and central and offers rooms at 179 E w/o bkfast in January.

Does it have to IN Vienna? I'm not a spa person myself, but I noticed some spa towns near Vienna that could be worth investigating.

leMeredien does not have a spa- yes -a massage area, sauna and workout center but certainly not considered a spa as requested by OP

Checked several dates at the Rfor december - rooms available from 188-215 euro
One interesting hotelin the wine village of Langenlois - 1 hour from Vienna- The Loisium-
spa facilities in a romantic wine village with various interesting wine taverns and restaurants-

See my recent trip report where I stayed at the Lindner am Belvedere. It has a spa, and is a very nice hotel (although not at the level of the top 5*).
