Hi Nedsireland and Lweber,
We would like to visit the Doñana National Wildlife Refuge. On the map it looks like there is delta area just south of Seville in that area. Is it a good place for a daytrip? We will have a car and we enjoy just driving around checking out hte scenery. Are there salt flats there?
Thanks
Wow!!! 2 weeks in Spain and you are planning on seeing all those places! I would really suggest that you limit your trip to a much smaller region or you will spend all of your time just travelling between cities with almost no time to see the sights in each stop and pretty much nothing in between.

I know your trip is coming up fairly soon, but in my opinion it would be worth doing some juggling of your itinerary to focus on EITHER Madrid OR Barcelona and then a much smaller area around either one of them. From Madrid you could do a fabulous 2 weeks south through Andalucia by eliminating Barcelona completely.

In that tour you could enjoy Sevilla (3 days minimum), Granada (2 days), Cordoba (1 day) some of the Pueblas Blancas and Ronda and Arcos de la Frontera (total of 3 days) and see Madrid in 3 days also. The AVE "bullet" train between Madrid, Cordoba and Sevilla would make travelling a breeze.

Just my opinion but it would include a lot of wonderful off the beaten path stops and some wonderful top sights of a fabulous country.

Good Luck and Happy Travels!

Maria

We just got back from 18 days traveling around Spain...our first trip there. We loved it all, but most enjoyed being away from the most tourit-filled areas. One place I would highly recommend if you have interest in history is Merida, in Extremadura. It has some of the best preserved & voluminous Roman ruins outside of Rome and was spectacular. We stayed at the parador there and greatly enjoyed it (it's a 15th century refurbished convent) Check out the website for paradors in Spain (www.paradores.com). It's an easy drive to Caceres and Trujillo from there, both of which are very charming. Others have also recommended Guadalupe and the monastary there, although we didn't make it. I'd be happy to share more info if you want to e-mail me direct! [email protected]
