Which hotel between these would you highly recommend or are they both really nice? Bellevue Syrene or Excelsior Vittoria?
Has anyone stayed in Bellevue in the seaview suite with large terrace, separate L.R. and large bedroom. The terrace is off the large bathroom?

We have stayed in the Excelsior Vittoria twice and really like it for several reasons:

Great terraces (and many rooms with balconies) directly overlooking the Bay of Naples

Beautiful gardens surrounding a very nice pool area - but still with the entrance to the grounds right on the main square of town

Private elevator access down to the dock for the hydrofoil to Capri

Private parking

We have gone in late May - plenty warm enough to swim but still semi-preseason- and have gotten great discounts both times.

Can't compare the two, as we've only stayed at Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. But agree with nytraveler that Excelsior Vittoria is a great place to stay. Our room actually had two balconies overlooking the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. Lovely gardens and great location, right in the heart of town, but set back. Beautiful dining room and good breakfast.
Accommodating staff.

I also can't compare. We've only stayed at the Bellevue Syrene. It's a bit removed from the main part of the town, which for me was a good thing.

Stayed at the Hilton Sorrento. Really enjoyed the view of Vesuvius from there, the fabulous breakfast buffet (and food in general), the terrific pool and the super service.

We walked in and out of town. Just had a ball there. Great little bakery at the bottom of the hill with lovely iced coffee served in expresso cups- they call it crushed coffee. Pastries were terrific too.

Few Americans, mostly Brits and Germans when we were there.

We have stayed in both hotels numerous times and always have the rooms with huge terraces. The Bellevue doesn't have a pool, has a fairly limited menu but a glorious terrace for coffee or a drink. We prefer the staff there.

On the other hand the Vittoria has a lovely pool, gardens and the lift down to the marina - very convenient for days away. We really did not like the food there. Wherever we go we book bed and breakfast and eat out.

Agree not to eat at the Excelsior Vittoria - except breakfast. We had one dinner and expressed disappointment and the head waiter explained they had many British and German guests who liked their version of Italian food. We ate all other meals in the town - which has plenty of good choices.

That is so funny, the same thing happened at the Grand Royal Hotel in Sorrento. We could not believe the bland overcooked pastas, etc at dinner. The waiter laughed and said the Briish patrons wanted and requested their own way of food preparation. Beware.

We stayed at the Bellevue Syrene last June for DD wedding. Both our room and DD room had huge terraces. I believe these were superior seaview rooms. Both room were on the same floor as the lobby--if you look at a photo of the hotel, as seen from the sea, our rooms were located directly above the 5 large windows of the restaurant.
The terrace was not off the bathrooms.

I was mistaken--the rooms we had at the Bellevue Syrene that have the large terrace are the deluxe sea view rooms.
