Excelsior Vittoria or Bellevue Syrene in Sorrento?

Does anyone have an opinion in which hotel we should stay? We have gotten a very good rate at the Excelsior but so many people rave about the Bellevue Syrene. We are insistent on having a seaview, a once in a lifetime experience maybe.

Hello jgrace, both hotels offer views of the Bay of Naples and both are lovely hotels. We stayed at the Bellevue Syrene several years ago. The views are wonderful and it is close to town as is the Excelsior Vittoria.

The Excelsior Vittoria is highly rated and considered to be one of the best hotels in Sorrento. If you got a good rate (was it for a room with a sea view?) then I think I would go for it.

You might want to also try a search on this website. Someone recently stayed at the Excelsior Vittoria and made some very nice comments about the hotel and lovely grounds.

Enjoy your trip!

Have stayed at the Excelsior Vittoria and loved it - would do it again in a minute. The gardens surrounding the pool are beautiful and you would never think you were right in the center of town.

A vote for the Bellevue Syrene. I liked the fact that it was not right in the center of town. There is a small public park across the street, and many locals gather there every evening and on the street at the cliff edge to watch the sunset and the lights of Naples across the bay. The Excelsior has the same view, but I liked feeling a bit less isolated from the locals.

The view every morning from the breakfast room in the Bellevue was a great beginning to the day. Drinks or coffee on the terrace in the late afternoon was a great treat at the end of a day of sightseeing.

JGrace - Add one more vote for Bellevue Syrene. We had a wonderful water view room...kept our terrace doors open every night and enjoyed falling to sleep to the sound of the waves and the cool (1st week in September) breezes. What a heavenly hotel! Beautiful, spacious, clean rooms with pretty architectural details and interesting furniture (in good condition). Service was wonderful and helpful. Grounds are beautiful as well. We will stay there every time in Sorrento. Good Luck and have a wonderful time! Trish
