So many Lake Como questions!!

I am sorry but I need so much help!!!!!
My husband and I will be driving to the Lake Como area from Munich in July (first we have to get from Amsterdam to Munich in one day but that is another post)!
Currently we have a reservation at Hotel Florence for Bellagio for 5 nights and were hoping to take day trips from there since we will have a car(would welcome suggestions)and our flight from Malpensa is at 8:00 am on Saturday.
My questions are: can we get to the Piedmont region to explore vineyards on a day trip? Should we change hotels Friday night to be closer to the airport (was thinking Como or Mennagio)?
Thank you!! In return I would be happy to provide information on our trip to Australia if there were any questions!!

That would be a long day trip, given the windy, twisty roads that lead to Bellagio. I recall that when we made the trip from Barolo to Bellagio, it took several hours.

As beautiful as Bellagio is, I would say that 5 nights is a lot of time to spend there.

Thank you for the quick reply Carrie! Would you by chance know how far of a drive it would be from Barolo to Malpensa (if we decide to cut the Bellagio visit a little short)?
Thank you!

I had asked a similar question regarding the airport and it was suggested that we stay in Mennaggio which is just shy of an hour to Malpensa airport. STaying anywhere else seemed to add a bit of time to make an early a.m. flight.

Can't help you with the rest of your questions.
