I'd love to meet the San Diego posters. I'm from University City but downtown is fine, so is La Mesa, Rancho Bernardo, Poway or North County. I just had a lovely lunch at Jake's in Del Mar. I'm off to London in 10 days but will be back after 1/22/04. Hey, Barbara, did you have a good time?

Jake's in Del Mar is a great restaurant. Best calamari I've ever had.

Would someone please make a decision and set a place, time, and date.

You people are driving me fricking crazy.

If ya'all want to meet somewhere without having dinner, Gaffney's Wine Bar in Encinitas is a good in-between spot. We could have wine and cheese and stay as long as we want.

I've had GTGs there before and they worked out well.

I had absolutely NO intention of taking the reigns here but okay: Jake's Del Mar. Saturday, February 21, 6:00. Be there or be square. RSVP so I can call and reserve a table/room. LA/OC residents welcome.

Jocelyn, I've marked it on my calendar. Thanks! Now, who else is coming?

Treesa, we had an OK time. Some things were really good and some family parts were forgettable. When I'm a little more awake I'll try to put together a trip report. I can't match maitaitom's eloquence, though. Thanks for asking.

Well, that was short-lived. It seems Tracy and I have tickets to Walt Disney Hall that night. Figures. Have a great time.

maitaitom: Score some points with a friend/client/colleague and give away the tickets. You can go to Walt Disney Hall anytime.

I'm on for 2/21/04, 6:00 pm at Jake's in Del Mar, unless my daughter decides to deliver her first child that night (actually she's due on 3/22/04) but you never know with babies...

I think I am out of town the weekend of Feb 21. It is such a pity Maitai will not make that date either. Jakes is great for lunch, but I don't know about dinner??? Why American Food??? Because we are American??? Well, in any case, it sounds like fun. Hope you toast Maitai and me.

Not trying to be wishy-washy as I know not everyone can make the same date, but what a shame that the two main instigators of the GTG can't go. Would it be better if we delayed it a week to the 28th? I hope you all wrote in pencil on you calendars.

I have double and triple checked calendar for home and work. The 28th of Feb. is fine, but don't change date on my account. Whatever the date, I do think Calamari should be there since she came up with the plan, and we should do it before Jocelyn moves to Tulsa in late March.

jocelyn: as a beneficiary of the excellent planning that Marilyn put into the SF GTG, may I make a suggestion?

Set up a new hotmail address. Ask all who are interested to email you at that address.

Then email back to all of the people interested several dates and ask people to select their number 1, number 2 choices.

Pick the date that is most convenient for a majority of the people.

Do the same for the place of your proposed meeting.

Otherwise, you will be swamped with logistics and will get very frustrated. You will not be able to please everyone. The people who can't make it this time will try to come the next time.

I wish Marilyn would share with you all the hard work she had to put into getting the SF GTG together. Marilyn?

We had a blast, but Marilyn did a lot of work to make it happen.

HOpe this helps! And have fun!

The 28th works for me, but I will definately be bringing my now famous MIL. She is NOT what you are expecting in the way of "little old Italian mother in law"! What time will the festivities begin?
