Shuttle Inter- a question
Long time lurker, first post
.
DH, DD (3) and I are going to Paris in Sept. We've decided to use a taxi to get from the airport to our apartment in the 7eme. I sent an email request via the form on Shuttle Inter's website and have yet to hear back. After reading all these (mostly) positive reviews, I am a bit surprised that it has been three days and I've yet to hear back from them, considering I believe I read that they get back to you in a couple of hours.
I plan on resending a request, but I'm wondering if they're still taking business or perhaps they are booked up full for the dates I need. Any insight/other taxi companies appreciated- no RER, as we'll have a stroller, two bags, a sleepy 3 year old and honestly, I want to see Paris above ground before I see it underground, lol.

Thanks for replying. I know I don't have to reserve in advance, but I like paying a fixed fare, rather than looking at the taxi meter. That kind of thing makes me anxious.
Bitter- I do mean that I'd like to reserve a shuttle. Do they respond back to you when you fill out a request on their site? I haven't heard anything- not sure what is standard. I've never been to Europe, just lots of North American travel.

I do understand about not wanting to worry about the taxi meter. But I can only share my experience. I have taken several taxi trips from CDG to Paris in all sorts of traffic and it has never cost more than 55 euros, which is the fare with Shuttle Inter.

I'm a fan of Shuttle-Inter but have never heard back from them in just a few hours. I know my last trip from CDG on a Monday morning in rush hour would have been over 55 euro in a taxi.
I'd resend your request again and see what happens.
Good luck, and have a great trip.

Personally, I would just opt for a taxi. That has always worked well for us in Paris. Last summer we tried Shuttle Inter but we less than impressed. They were not there upon arrival and it took several phone calls before they showed up. However, they stranded us for our return trip. I had verbally confirmed with the driver when he dropped us, and then followed up with an email confirmation during the week. They did not show up at all, so we had to hurry and hoof it to a taxi stand to make our flight. So, just a word of caution.

I just take a taxi, also, all this trouble and time when you don't have to do anything if you take a taxi, is not for me. But, I do understand people who don't want to risk a taxi fare of over 55 euro. Which, has never happened to me in the two decades I've been taking taxis, anyway -- and I've taken them in rush hour, when there was some accident on the road, whatever. But if such a thing happened to me and it cost 60 euro or even 65 -- so what, I wouldn't care, stuff happens. My time is more valuable than 5-10 euros given how much time people are spending on reserving these things and worrying about them showing up, etc. Yeah, I know someone above claims they are perfect, but some people have had problems where they didn't show up, so that risk is probably as high or higher than a taxi fare costing 65 euro. From Orly, they are really not a good idea as they charge the same from Orly as from CDG.
I really don't understand what you are doing, though, when you say you fill out a request on their website. Their website just gives you email addresses and you email them. There isn't any form on there that I can see.
You might trying using a different email account, as it is possible they didn't get your email or that their email account considered your ISP spam. There are some alternative services that people have mentioned on Fodors, you could try them. Here's a travel website that has some recommendations (and not):

be careful on what you book, though -- some places may require prepayment and you lose it if you don't show

Christina-
I think I'll just go with a taxi. Even though I'm a SAHM, I can't be bothered writing and hunting stuff down, even though I have more time to do so.
Oh, the form I filled out is here:
http://www.shuttle-inter.com/booking.htm
Just follow the instructions and viola. But no matter. I just like the idea of a fixed price, and I have thoughts of fitting two carry on sized bags and an umbrella stroller not fitting in a taxi, along with DH, DD and myself.
I also liked not having to prepay and deal with trying to get my money back if they didn't show- but alas, they do not want my money, anyway!

I'm of 2 minds here. On our 2nd to last trip, we used Shuttle-Inter and were more than pleased, especially since we were stuck in traffic due to an accident on the peripherique for 45 minutes so the taxi fare would have been god-awful. On all our previous trips we had used a taxi. Our friends who came in a few days later were not met as planned and had to make calls and wait quite a long time. Our pickup went without a hitch. I'm glad I'm taking a train from London on our next visit so won;t have to worry. I'm sure the accident we encountered was a one-off so a taxi should be fine
