Santorini Atrina Traditional Houses
I was in the process of booking the Canava 1894 suite at the Atrina Traditional Houses only to find it was already booked. My alternative is their junior suite which fits the requirements for my family of 4, other than the privacy of its balcony/patio.
My question for anyone who has stayed here, do the people who have rooms above the junior suite use the stairway to the left of the junior suite and than cross the junior suite patio to use the stairs to go down to the pool. It seems unlikely that a junior suite would have this kind of situation but I've stared at the pictures and can't come up with anything else. I'd hate to have a patio that is a passageway.
As well, I can't find this property on any maps, can anyone tell me where it's situated?
thanks in advance

Sorry I don't know the exact location of the Canava 1894 Suite, but I would be very surprised if anyone had to walk through your balcony to get to the pool or to any other room. If that photo is in fact of the terrace for the Canava 1894, to me it suggests that the only contact you'd have with anyone else would be when they came down the steps to go to an adjacent room but they'd be turning away from you when they reached the terrace.
Here is a map of Oia:

Atrina is in Section 10, 2nd row up from the bottom, just to the left of the "Minimarket."

Thanks brotherleelove for the response. The map is a great help since I had no idea where Atrina Houses were located.
As for booking I'm still dragging my feet. Is there anything else you could recommend in the 350E - 400E price range that I may have overlooked. I'm travelling with my husband and two daughters. (aged 14 and 12) My requirements would be caldera view, pool, comfortable room,...we don't need a full service hotel.
I just looked at the Aspaki website....now that would be perfect if I could find that view in my price range! That view has got to be the absolute best in Oia.

I'm tagging on to an old posting, but we are planning to book the Junior Suite at the Atrina Traditional Houses for mid September and I'm hoping to get feedback from anyone who has stayed there or is familiar with this property. We are 2 couples and normally would book separate suites, but our budget calls for sharing a 2-bedroom apartment in Santorini, as the nicer properties are either too $$$ or not available for our September 2010 dates. Would love to know how comfortable you think it would be for 2 couples and is the Atrina as wonderful as it appears at their website? Have been looking for several months now and need to make a final decision. Also booked (but can cancel) 2 of the smaller caves at Alexander's, but am concerned about some negative reviews on TripAdvisor.

No hotel can please every guest. Overall, Alexander's has an excellent reputation. I haven't had a chance to 'inspect' Atrina but I do know that they also offer a quality environment. If you haven't done so already I will also suggest you take a look at Strogili Houses, Filotera Villas, Caldera Villas, Olympic Villas, Chelidonia Villas, Lucky Homes and Ifestio Villas. They all have a reasonably-priced 2-bedroom Apartment to offer.

I forgot to mention that some of these I've just mentioned don't have on-site swimming pools, if that's something you require, but there is a very lovely public-access pool in Oia you can use, great for swimming _and_ sunset-watching.
