I believe there is only 1 airport in Pisa. A google search brought me to their website that states it is 1km from the centre of Pisa: http://www.pisa-airport.com/index.php?lang=_en

I think I understand your confusion, as Ryanair do often fly to airports not really near the advertised destination. If you think in terms of Ryanair flights to Florence which actually fly to Pisa, you would be closer to the normal tactic of Mr O'Leary's airline.

To answer the question, the airport is right next to the city. The train takes about 5 minutes, the bus about 10 minutes.

To clarify, Pisa Airport has its own train station that connects to Pisa Centrale station and Florence.

Ellenem: Don't mean to hijack thread, but can you give a little more info on train station set-ups/specifics?

I am thinking of using Ryan Air (Pisa) to get to Florence for a long week-end. Knowing the lay-out etc. really makes things go much more smoothly.

Thanks Macca35 for asking the original question!

Hi klondike on the link I posted above it does give info on how to reach Florence:

http://www.pisa-airport.com/aeroporto_di_pisa_76.html

Sounds like you just go to the train station at the airport (down a short walkway), but a ticket, and away you go!

Although we take the train, you can also take the Terravision bus from Pisa airport to Florence train station (www.terravision.eu). It takes about 70 minutes and the cost is 10 euro.

When you come our of baggage claim within the Pisa Airport Terminal, there's a train ticket selling window on the right. Then follow the train signs in the other direction. When you walk out the door, the train tracks will be directly in front of you

Thank you all!

Nochblad re: flying into Florence direct: Because I haven't been able to find a 10 euros flight from Frankfurt to Florence on Lufthansa, but I can find Ryanair specials through Pisa

Pisa airport is not some abandoned military base in the sticks of the type often used by Ryanair. It is a decent sized airport used by major airlines.

The best, fastest and easiest way from Pisa Airport to Florence is the Terravision bus, it drops off right at SMN station.
