2 nts? Why? At most one night is all you need to see the city, visit shops to spend your money. Cute yes, neat yes, worth a photo op, even dinner and a night, but 2nts. no.

We bought some stuff at Kathe Wolfhart and had it shipped home for 25E. I didn't price sending it post, so I don't know which would have been cheaper, but for a clock, a couple stines, and some various and assorted other items, it was worth it not to have to carry the stuff to the post office - LOL.

I would not call schneeballsnasty or disgusting, but I would call them very disappointing. They looked so enticing piled up in the window. I got and "almond" one. It had no almond flavor, no flavor at all. I took a couple of bites and threw the rest in a litterbin. (And that is really hard for me to do; grew up with clean your plate, think of all the starving people in______). Usually I finish something and remember not to get it again.

we ate at a restaurant that had "burger" in the name. it was on the right hand side of the street, walking downhill. the food was good, ambience great and the talkative owner was very interesting. we would go there again.

We also stayed at the Gastof Goldner Greifen and ate at their restaurant; which is family owned and run. They had the BEST potato pancakes. Would highly recommend it.

Enjoying this thread. We will be in Rothenburg in early November and will stay at Klosterstueble--sounds like it will be good for dinner. Will pass on the schneeballs--they don't sound very appealing and probably not worth the calories.

Hi Sue,
We will be staying at the Gasthof Goldner Greifen in mid October.

Did you enjoy your stay there? Was the breakfast included in the room price?

Just got home two weeks ago! We stayed at the Burg (second time staying there) and it was wonderful. We atr at a restaurant just down the street and to the left (the man at the front desk told us to go there) that is in an old farmhouse. WONDERFUL!

Take note of the Schneeballen...thet look pretty and everone tosses them in the garbage because they are dry and yucky tasting! Have fun at Kathy Wolfart's Christmas store, you can easily stay over an hour there. Have fun, it is a wonderful and magical town.

Hi Laurie:
Yes we enjoyed our stay at Gasthof Goldner Greifen, we would stay there if we ever go back. Very nice hotel, people and right by main square.

Breakfast was included in the price.

If you are driving, get specific directions to find parking behind the hotel because some of the streets were confusing for us. We found the front of the hotel, but had a hard time find the back for parking.

Have a great time.

Thanks for your comments, Sue.

I printed a map from the Gasthof Grieffen website, so I hope that we won't have any trouble finding the parking lot. We will be driving and I have heard that the streets are very narrow.

SCHNEEBALLS! Yuck! Just got back from our 8th or 9th time to Rothenburg. Been going there off and on since 1970. Those balls look good in the window but lack on the taste. They tricked me into getting one years ago. Now I am a free man when I see them in the windows.

Interesting place to eat is HELL. It is in an old forge across from the criminal museum. Be sure to look in the lower level. Great area for a small group. Reasonable on the prices.

REICHS KUCHENMEISTER has a very nice restaurant. I spent my 60th birthday there...and number 50...and they did a great job for me. The wait staff is excellent and with good weather the outside patio is very nice.
