Fussen, Germany/Castles

We recently stopped in a little town of Fussen on our way to the "Cinderella" Castle, and found it to be just lovely and quaint. It seemed to be a good base to visiting the other castles in the area. Would anyone recommend a hotel/B&B in the town for when we may visit again sometime? Haven't really checked the location of the other hotels, but wondered if this town is best to base in?

Too bad you can't connect to the site. There is a lot of information. The hotel name is Hotel Rubezahl in Schwangau.

We stayed in Fussen right in the center of town and I believe the name of the hotel was Hotel Kurcafe. It was a perfect location, parking around the corner (not free) and a great little Italian restaurant across the street. We had a corner room and in the early a.m. it was a little noisy, but we didn't mind. The attached restaurant had a nice continental b'fast, which I don't believe was included in the price. The cost was less than $100/night for 2 people.

If you want real peace and quiet, look for a pension just up the road in Hohenschwangau--not in the middle of the tourist mess near the ticket center, but the other direction towards Schwangau and the cable railway area.

Quaint and quiet.
