Rome to Paris
I'll be going from Rome to Paris to London this summer, and need some advice on whether to take the train, and stop somewhere overnight between Rome and Paris, or should we take a plane for the trip?
Specific questions are -- which route would you take via train and where would you stay?
And which airline flies between Paris and rome. It seems most airlines need you to fly one way out of or into London?
Thanks for your help.
Pam

I would recommend www.virgin-express.com Rome to Brussels - - then enjoy a day or two in Belgium (best in Bruges, Ghent, Liege or Antwerp - - rather than Brussels), before proceeding on to Paris (90 minutes by train from Brussels - - unfortunately high-priced for such a short train ride).

Best wishes,

Rex
This might be a silly question, but why don't you just take the night train from Rome and get some extra time in Paris. What I did was go from Rome on an early to Geneva (9hrs) which was a lovely relaxing ride, had dinner stayed close enough to spend an evening by the lake spent overnight in Geneva and went to Paris the following morning around (3:30hrs). This way I wasn't exhausted for Paris and after Paris I went on to London.

Alitalia and AirFrance definitely fly direct non-stop flights from Rome to Paris. Lufthansa and British Airways also offer flights, but you'll need to stop in Munich (or Frankfurt) or London, respectively, before getting to your final destination.

To give you an idea of flying vs. train travel: I flew on BA from Milan to Paris. I had to stop in London. This trip took the entire day (left the hotel at 7:45 AM and arrived at the Paris hotel at 6:15 PM). I think if I had taken the train, I would have left the Milan train station at 9:00 am and arrived in Paris at 4:00 pm.
