I highly recommend the Santa Chiara at Pizza della Minera and the Albergo del Senato. They are both good values is the wonderful area near the Pantheon. I have visited Rome a dozen times and this is my favorite area. If I am splurging I stay at the de la Minerva but am really just as happy at the Santa Chiara or del Senato.

I'm not sure that Minerva and Del Senato will be able to meet the budget. Both are expensive and there are 4 people who need a room or if there are two rooms that will be more costly.
Spunge411, keep looking...
If you want to stay in the areas you named then it will most likely be costly.

ok, i booked a room at this place. the Hotel Valadier http://www.hotelvaladier.it/
Seems like its a great location...its a 4* but thats to been seen. hotels can usally call themselves whatever they want. i supposedly have a room with a king size bed and another seperate section of the room has a french size sofa, that becomes a bed. got the room for 270 euros... a bit steep but the neighborhood seems good. has anyone stayed here? any comments on the location or this hotel?
