Rome hotel

can anyone recommend a hotel at the Rome airport (FCO); we have an a.m. flight out, and need to be close by for our last night in Italy.

Here's a post that may help:

Also do a text search on 'Rome and AIrport', that's where the above post came from and there's others as well.

The opinion most often given - - and one with which I concur, based on personal experience, including early morning flights out of Rome - - is that it's silly to give up those last great hours in Rome (7 pm to 1 am: a wonderful time in Rome), when the city is well-suited to get you an early morning cab ride, long before the city's rush hour traffic begins.

Best wishes,

Rex

Can't agree with Rex more- my last trip to Rome I had to be at the airport at dawn. The cab ride was so quick, as NO ONE is on the rode at that hour!

I would agree about staying in Rome unless you are going to arrive into Rome from another city/region and won't get in until after 7 pm or so. At that late point in the day, by the time you check into your hotel and have dinner, IMO you may not really feel like go sightseeing around the city at night.

If you want to stay at the airport, there is nice Hilton at the airport with a connection skybridge to the terminals. You can also take a shuttle if you have a lot of luggage:

Hilton Rome Airport
Via Arturo Ferrarin, Rome Fiumicino, IT 00050
Tel: 39-06-65258 Fax: 39-06-65256525
Hilton.com

You are departing at the same time as a number of other US-bound flights, and the security at the airport is very tight. I would allow at least 2.5 hours to check-in and get through the various security screenings.

i agree with rex. we had a 6:30 am flight and stayed at a hotel near tremini. there were 6 of us and we got a cab for 60 euro (?). it took only about 15 minutes to get there. i think the we were travelling at about 100mph. but anyway take a cab. have a nice farewell dinner and the just get up early.

Hotel Alimandi might work for you. They are located close to the Vatican Museums. They have airport shuttle service that might work for you. This way you can enjoy 1 more night in Rome.
