ROME:corner of Via Cernaia and Via Palestro unsafe hotel area?

I am thinking of staying in a B and B at the corner of Via Cernaia and Palestro which is northeast of the Termini. I have read the reviews online and have not seen many negatives. Is that a really bad area?

Thanks. bbblaine

Hello bblaine, my Roman son-in-law who now lives here in N CA has said that area is "safe" and believe he has said it is the southern area of the Termini which is more dicely. But neighborhoods sure can change "overnight". Have you checked out the B&B on TripAdisor? If not I would do that.

I've stayed a block from there. Perfectly safe. Uncharming.

I stayed on Via Gaeta (? about 2 blocks away) 2 years ago. Then it seemed perfectly safe for a 50ish woman alone--streets busy with tourists/locals making metro & train connections. Not picturesque, but cheap & comfortable (both necessities for me!).

I have looked at trip advisor and seen very good comments. It is the Cernaia Suites.
