Romantic, Affordable Hotels

I'm planning a trip to Italy in May or September. Cities of interest are Venice, Rome, Florence, and Positano. If anyone has suggestions on places to stay (apt., hotel, or B&B) in those cities I would appreciate the help. I'm looking for places in the E100 to E300 range...prefer something romantic or quaint. Would also be willing to spend more in one city for a more luxurious stay. Thanks in advance!

Buy the Karen Brown book on Italy. You will find some good suggestions for quaint bed and breakfast type places. We have used her recommendations in many countries and always been pleased.

We just returned from getting married in Positano and honeymooning there. We also went last year to other parts of Italy. Here are my recommendations for small, B&B type hotels that we enjoyed.

Positano - Villa La Tartana (wonderful....look for my wedding/honeymoon post with details)

Florence: Hermitage Hotel (with jacuzzi tub)

Venice: Antica Locanda Venezia

Rome: we had planned to stay at Hotel Cellini but ended up staying near the airport since we were flying out the next morning...check out that hotel. the reviews were great and it looked nice. We stayed at Hotel Barberini in Rome on our first visit and liked that too.

Most hotels listed were 3 - 4 star. I would go to any of them again. Price range was 150 euros to 220 euros per night including breakfast and tax.

Have a great trip!

Hi sarah,

Rather than stay in Positano, I recommend Le Sirene in Praiano.

www.lesirene.com

Ask for room No.12 - has a large balcony.

The online information is not the same as the guidebook for Karen Brown. The company charges to be listed online as it is advertising and some places that are perfectly fine choose not to pay that fee and thus are only in the book.

... that's why I said "essentially".

Fee or no fee, I think that the content online is what the Karen Brown organization writes (for the book) - - not promotional copy about the property that they might like to write for/about themselves.
