Review of my itinerary?
Hello. hoping for some comments (good or bad!) on my proposed itinerary for October. thanks! By the way, this will be for after Oktoberfest ends - not really into the thought of the additional crowds it would bring so we avoided it.
Day 1 - fly Pittsburgh to Frankfurt, hotel right by airport, pick up rental car, don't do much.
Day 2 - early start, drive to Rothenburg, seeing some things along the way. Do Night Watchman Tour, eat: Zurr Holl maybe. Hotel: Hotel Gasthof Goldener Greifen.
Day 3 - Another early start, drive to Munich today. Very brief stops along the way to check out Dinkelsbuhl and Nordlingen if possible. Dachau in the afternoon before it closes at 5. checking into Munich hotel for the next 3 nights: Hotel Laimer Hof.
Day 4 - Munich all day. Beer Hall type place in the evening. Hotel Laimer Hof.
Day 5 - Day trip to Neusch. Castle. Hotel Laimer Hof.
Day 6 - Travel to Salzburg (maybe stop at Eagle's Nest?) Hotel: Villa Trapp.
Day 7 - Morning in Salzburg. Not enough time here but visit until maybe 2-3 in the afternoon and then drive to St. Gilgen (where we will stay the next two nights )checking out the. views along the way. Hotel: Hotel Schernthaner.
Day 8 - Sitesee in the St. Gilgen area. Hotel: Hotel Schernthaner.
Day 9 - Make the drive up to Cesky Krumlov. Sites along the way? Afternoon/evening to check out the town - walk along the ramparts. Hotel: Undecided but leaning toward Castle View Apartment.
Day 10 - Morning in Cesky Krumlov - see the castle, etc. In the afternoon make the drive to Prague. Hotel: Holiday Home Prague.
Day 11 - All day site seeing in Prague. Hotel: Holiday Home Prague.
Day 12 - All day site seeing in Prague. Hotel: Holiday Home Prague.
Day 13 - All day to make the drive back to Frankfurt and spend the night right by the airport to fly home tomorrow. Along the way stop in to see Bamburg.
Day 14 - Return rental car, fly home to Pittsburgh.
Any thoughts or comments? Restaurant recommendations? Things to see or skip? Comments on our hotels? Thanks so much!

For Prague sightseeing, we really like the Vysehrad area. There is a beautiful church and national cemetery, and gorgeous views of the river and city. We were there twice, October 2003 and August 2009, and it was never crowded. Good place to get away from the crowds.
