We are going to Nice Oct 1,2004 and I would like some recommendations for restaurants in the area. We are foodies, but don't want to spend a fortune!

Agree with Cigalechanta's recommendation but would also add Tavern Massena located on the closed street Massena for the BEST wood oven pizza in the whole world (and I am from Chicago and know my pizza!)Have a glass of wine,salad and pizza there and as you walk out hit the crepe store within 50 feet for a tasty dessert.Its an inexpensive meal and a place that many who have gone to Nice have loved!

And don't leave without trying the famous inexpensive Nice specialty, Socca

Barracuda at 2, rue Meyerbeer ( right off Promenade des Anglais) has really excellent pizza and Italian dishes. It's very reasonably priced.

I'd also recommend LE SAFARI in Vieux Nice for excellent seafood.
