I stayed at the Plaka Hotel. Not all rooms have a view of the Acropolis, but mine did. They have a rooftop too, but I was there around the New Year so I didn't use it.

I stayed at the Electra Palace Hotel. Rooms don't have a view of the Acropolis. The top floor is a restaurant (buffet breakfast, or ala carte dinner) with amazing views of the Acropolis.

Hotel Grande Bretagne
No idea of your budget, but if you want to splurge between the 3 of you. Luxury and of course not inexpensive, but many rooms with view and the rooftop restaurant is outstanding.

We had an Acropolis view from our room at Electra Palace. I thought it was a good hotel.

We just stayed at Electra Metropolis. We booked a room with a balcony and acropolis view, plus there was one from the bar, restaurant and pool area.

We tossed up between Electra Metropolis and Palace, both had views. From memory Metropolis was slightly cheaper, but really I just preferred its more modern decor. The location was great too.

Thanks for the recommendations. They all look good. I had seen the Electra hotels while doing my own search. The Marriott is gorgeous but may be above budget. My friend and I are gifting the trip to her goddaughter, a recent veterinary college grad, and we will be traveling for two weeks. Need to keep hotels below $500.
