Recommended Hotels in San Gimignano
We are considering staying at the Hotel Leon Bianco. A triple room with a valley view. Can anyone recommend this hotel or another. We did see Hotel Cisterna mentioned here, but read some "just fair" reviews on another site.
We would appreciate any recommendations for a good restaurant in the city.
Thanks for your help in advance.

You can also try L'Antico Pozzo which gets very good reviews at Trip Advisor.

We stayed at the L'Antico Pozzo that francophile03 mentioned. We loved the hotel and even stayed an extra night. That was 11 years ago though. Our trip to Italy last year did not take us to San Gimignano, but if it had we would have certainly stayed there. The rooms were very charming.
Have a great trip.

We stayed at Antico Pozzo, too, and loved it! (This was just over a year ago.) Our room was over the main street, while it didn't bother me, my sister-in-law next door had problems with the street sweeper waking her up very early each morning. Our room had a queensized canopy bed and a twin daybed for a third person. It was very large and had beautiful fresco wall treatments. Happy planning!

We stayed as La Cisterna in May and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had a room overlooking the valley with an incredible view. Step out the front door and you are in the middle of the Piazza Cisterna. Staff was friendly, breakfast was very good. In short, we consider this a great place to stay.

Chiribiri is a great restaurant..family run with excellent food and service. You need to make a reservation in advance and they accept cash payment only. We had one of the best meals of our trip. The pumpkin ravioli with pecorino is die for.
Once you make a hotel reservation, you can email the hotel and they can book a dinner reservation for you.

We stayed at Relais Santa Chiara Hotel about 8 years ago.
Pros:
- beautiful views of valley
- pool
- HUGE balcony (AMAZING view!)
- nice rooms/bathrooms, etc.
- quiet
- parking lot adjacent
Cons:
- outside city centre - had to walk to get 'inside the walls'
I would stay there again....
