Thanks, Steve, I would love to go to one of these concerts. Alas, I am never there during the season.

My wife and I saw a concert at the same venue in Ravello a few years ago. What an incredible setting to see a show. The pictures don't give it justice.

Thanks for this useful info, Steve. We won't be in Ravello this year but you've reminded me to look up the concerts at La Mortella.

Can I ask you a totally unrelated question while I'm here, please ? We are travelling by public transport from Venice to Malcesine then back to Venice airport a week later. I've printed off train times between 1051 and 1352 for Venice-Peschiera Del Garda (5 July) & the bus timetable between Verona & Riva which covers Peschiera & Malcesine. But for coming back (12 July), I can't see any trains from Peschiera to Mestre before 1523 - do you think that is right and if so, any idea why ? If it is I suppose we stay on the bus to Verona & get a train from there ? Thanks for your expert advice, as always - regards, Caroline.

Hi Caroline -

No - it´s definitely wrong (- I expect the summer timetable probably comes into effect that week and they haven´t updated it all yet).

Check nearer the time. Or you can confirm departure times at Verona station (- or Malcesine Tourist Office) when you´re there.

At present Trenitalia lists trains from Peschiere at -
10.23, 12.23, 12.50 and 13.23.

The new timetable will almost certainly be similar - if not the same.

Buon viaggio

Steve

Great, thanks Steve - I knew I could rely on you to know.

BTW in case anyone reading is interested in concerts on Ischia, the link for La Mortella (William Walton's home) is www.lamortella.it. The English section doesn't seem to work but the list of concerts in Italian is pretty self-explantory.

My understanding per the ravello arts website is that when the weather is cooler, the concerts move indoors. We are going in October when I believe the concerts move indoors (but on the same property). I have only heard from people who have been to this concert when outdoors and they have raved about it...Anyone been when indoors? Still worthwhile, keeping in mind the concerts start late and we will be staying in Positano not Ravello? Or is the outdoor scenery what really makes it?

I went to a concert one June which was supposed to be in the garden but as it was about to start, the heavens opened. We all (including the piano) swiftly moved inside where they had seating set up too.

It was quite an exciting evening as a huge thunderstorm raged throughout, the lights went off a few times but the pianist ploughed on ! We enjoyed it a lot - it was still very atmospheric.

There's not much outdoor scenery anyway as it's in an enclosed garden.
