Questions About Air France Flights from LAX to CDG
Please give me any insights/experience you have with this flight. It is a codeshare with Delta, but operated by Air France. The plane is a Boeing 777-200, which appears to have individual seatback video screens.
This all sounds great, but I've read about poor service on Air France from Atlanta to Paris, and worry about lost luggage, etc. I'm hoping that maybe this flight is better than the one from Atlanta.
I'll appreciate any comments you have about this flight.

I haven't taken that particular flight, but many other AF flights. I like them, and have never had poor service. I don't care for that airplane, but what can you do -- many airlines are using the Boeing 777 now.
As for lost baggage, I guess everyone worries about that. I don't think that has anything to do with a particular departure city, though, does it? I think it is probably related to ground personnel at the destination airport for the most part, although the personnel at the departure airport could mess it up also, if they don't put it on the flight, I suppose.

We've taken this flight several times, once in economy and more often in business class. Obviously, Biz class was superior, really one of the best biz class flights we've taken. However, even economy class was comfortable.
Service was superb and the food was quite good. No lost luggage.
We're planning on using AF again next summer for our next trip to Europe.

We've taken this flight sevral times. On our last flight Oct 04, They had changed from an Airbus, which was really nice, to the 777 which was worn looking and not so comfortable. I'm sure the fuel costs are probably to blame for them using smaller planes. In the Air Bus you could get just two seats together in the 777 they are all 3 or 4 in the middle. Being crammed in with a stranger for 10 hours was not fun for me. They do have the individual monitors on the seats. The food was a little beter than some other airlines.
I have alot of miles accrued and I wanted to upgrade and was told by Delta that this flight is not available for upgrade. I found this to be really annoying so I booked our Novemer trip on Northwest. It is not a direct flight but at least they use a new Airbus from Detroit on and we could up-grade.

If it's Air France, you should get free wine and alcohol in coach. Delta will charge you $5.00 each time in economy. Delta's 767's don't have individual seat back screens and trying to see the projected picture at the front of the plane will be a challenge. I also find that European airlines don't make loud announcements during the nighttime. Last summer on a Delta flight to Rome, the flight attendant said at 2:00 in the morning, "Please check the security of your seatbelt." I could never get back to sleep.
Carry your valuables as a carry on. My suitcase was missing for one day on a recent American Airlines flight. When I reported it, they had signs saying they were not responsible for lost money, medicine or cameras. These items should not be in a suitcase but carried on by the passenger.

I like the Airbus better than any of the AF aircraft beginning with a '7'. I'm sure we had a 744 in July for both journeys. It was cramped as usual, the trays were off balance, not a new aircraft, and it was highly boring as there were no seatback entertainment screens. To me AF service has improved since 1999 when we first flew with them. Otherwise, maybe we have been fortunate to have very nice flight crews since then. The food is actually allright and they do give free wine and champagne. Also they pass around the baguettes twice. There's an open galley during the flight to help yourself to refreshments.
