Question about what we can put in those 1 qt. ziplock bags

I know we are allowed to bring up to 3 oz. size bottles of liquids. But I have save a bunch of those sample size packets (the little flat packets) of shampoo and conditioner. I was going to put about a dozen of these in my carry-on ziplock bag. Is that allowed or will they get thrown away by the screeners?

I packed a bunch of stuff, even non-toiletries like ear plugs in my ziplock along with my liquids. I also had some of those flat packets of shampoo and shower soap. Just make sure none of those are over 3 oz and you'll be fine.

The only restriction, other than the size of bottles (3 fl ozs or 100 ml in EU), is that they should fit 'comfortably' in a transparent ziplock bag no larger than 1 litre capacity, and you should be able to zip up easily. There is a picture at security illustrating a bag that's not allowed, showing it overfilled with bottles with ziplock undone.

Ditto what Alec said. The screeners I dealt with were concerned about the size of the ziplocs (some people had larger ones) and whether the bag can lay fairly flat.

As long as they can see what you have at a glance, you should be just fine.

I'm getting such a kick out of this whole ziplock bag thing. I know a lady who is part of a double income/no kids couple. Between the two of them, they must make about a million dollars a year. The lady is super-classy, only the best designer shoes, purses, luggage. They travel a lot, and I chuckle at the thought of her storing her toiletries in a ziplock bag.

It is 3.3 oz or 100 m. I filled my shampoo and conditioner containers with rum. You can fill up the zip-lock bag with containers but only one zip-lock bag per person.

In Copenhagen we went through security and my wife had a clear plastic container with a zipper that she had bought at the drug store that already had little bottles of shampoo and stuff. The security person took all the things out of the little zipper bag and put them in a ziplock back and gave everything back to her... regualtions I guess.

Aisleseat, that is so funny. In 20 years, the toiletries in a zip-lock bag will be a "remember when" thing that we all laugh about while our grandkids are puzzled.
