Question about Auto Europe website

We plan to rent a car in Athens (airport) for about 8 days from May 5th to the 12th. AutoEurope's website cannot seem to return any available cars for that date.
Could the problem be that I am trying to scope things out too far in advance? Can one only check availability and prices for a certain amount of time in the future (i.e., 3 months out, 6 months out)?
We have never used Auto Europe before so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all!

Hi TA,

It's too early for May, 2006.

It works for January.

Thanks ira.
Drat, I suppose I must put that part of my planning on hold for a few more months then. Back to researching Greek food for me (such a terrible alternative, lol!)

This may post twice as my computer is misbehaving - for which I apologize. I'm renting through Autoeurope May 3 - May 6 in Italy. I called their 800 number and gave my credit card number for the deposit - we're good to go! We like to have all the details taken care of (hotel, airfare, car rental). I don't think it's too early for you - try calling. Happy travels!

Are you sure you're not asking for an automatic car? That will usually come back with no cars (I made that mistake while searching for rentals in Slovakia even though I didn't recall actually selecting that as a requirement).

If you actually need an automatic, call them because there are so few and some companies may not list them as available.

Also, try selecting various sizes of cars. That might affect availability.

If all else, fails, call them.

No, we are selecting manual transmission... I think I'll try calling them over lunch.

Thanks all

I want to rent through AutoEurope for France in April but the rates are not online yet, they only go to the end of March at this point. You will need to call.

I would definitely call. We used them for the first time in Germany and their customer service has been outstanding. I'm sure if you call they will be able to reserve something for you. They will then e-mail you the notification so you have it on hand.

Good luck! My husband and I considered Greece for next year, primarily to drive around the peninsula and check out historic sights (we are both history buffs) but unfortunately won't have enough time to give it justice. I will look forward to your trip report!

Sorry, I meant to say we used them for the first time for our vacation to Germay. I need to start using the "review my reply" feature more often!

I should add that AutoEurope gave me the best rate, hands down, and I was very happy with their customer service.

Hope all likewise goes well with you.
