Ash Grove B&B Galway
Has anyone stayed here recently? Did you like it? Their website looks nice. The address says Newcastle Road. Is that convenient to shopping & pubs? Going in February and walking at night in the cold does not sound like fun....

I just got back and stayed at the Ashgrove House also on the low road between Bunratty and Durty Nelly's. Was a great room and Sheila was fantastic. Real easy to get to the airport, too.

I don't know about that one, but I was in Galway in July and stayed at the Petra House B&B on College Rd. The best we stayed at in Ireland. The owneers, Frank and Joan Maher were the bets, 5 minute walk to town. Highly recommend it.

The Petra House is an easy walk to town. If memory serves, it is no more than 5 minutes to the beginning of the main street in town. Less than 10 minutes to Quay St where the pub/restaurants/shops are. It really is a great location. We were two couples in our early 50's and had no trouble at all. We stayed in 5 B&B's on our trip, and while all of them were good, this was the best.
Most B&B's will ask you to fill out your breakfast request the night before along with the time you want to eat it. This is fine and I thought it was very efficient. The Petra House, on the other hand, has a beautiful dining area and you are given a menu with your choice of breakfast.(included of course)
Frank and Joan were the abosulute best. If you stay there you wn't regret it.
Go the island of Inishmor if you get the chance while you're in Galway.
