Priceline for Kempinski at Munich Airport?
Has anyone had good luck with getting the Kempinski at Munich's airport via priceline? If so, what might be the optimum timing for a bid?
Alternatively, can anyone recommend a nearby alternative with free shuttle for one night only?
Many thanks!

UNCalum,
Is the Kempinski showing up on betterbidding.com as a place bidders are getting at Munich airport?
I got the hotel I wanted at CDG by reading betterbidding.com's Priceline and Hotwire information for that airport. I was then able to guess that what Hotwire had on offer for my date was indeed the hotel I wanted.
I have bid successfully up close and far out, on Priceline. One night seems to be more important than timing, in my experience. But that's just my experience.
When I want a specific hotel, I choose from among those that Hotwire users are getting. betterbidding.com usually helps me figure out which hotels are being offered.
For me, Priceline works better when price is more important than a more specific choice of hotels.

Thanks for the info. I will check the site you suggested to see if the Kempinski is showing up.
I believe that it is the only five-star within the airport area, so I thought perhaps if I asked for that many stars, it might be the default option. That hotel is the only one actually on airport property and thus really desirable since I have an early flight. It wouldn't fit my budget without an amazing deal, however.

The new Novotel (I think it's a 4* hotel) is the only other alternative still on the airport premises. It's not in walking distance to the terminals like the Kempinski, but just 1km with the shuttle bus.
The rest of the "airport hotels" is further away.

If Priceline is offering a 5*, then go for it.
If not, try using Hotwire. When I got the hotel I wanted at CDG, it was because Hotwire described it as "on" or "in" the airport proper. I knew then that it was the one I was looking at.
If Hotwire offers you a 5* on airport property, you will know it is the Kempinski. If they offer a 4* star on airport property you might want to go for the Novotel, which doesn't sound bad.
Good luck.

Freising is just 15 minutes from the Airport by a dedicated public shuttle bus for 3 euros per person. We stayed at the Hotel zur Gred, which is only 5 minutes from the train station from where the shuttle departs.

The website site seems to be temporarily (?) down.
