There is a night train from Praha hl.n. 21.37, arr Kosice (SK) 7.55. I presume you mean Kosice in Slovakia. There seems to be 2 other places called Kosice as well. No idea about quality, but the train has sleepers and couchettes. I just found the train on www.vlak-bus.cz, the national timetable for both trains and busses. It is also in English.

Traditional Czech food is quite heavy, like other Central European. Dumplings (knedliky) with brown gravy is typical. They are often served with meat instead of potatoes. Maybe more dumplings with apricots for dessert? Slovakian food is better, because they are catholics.

Re Prague to Kosice by rail: Fodors
Maggie [email protected]

A detail: by day second class has eight people in each compartment while first has six. No problem if the train is half full, but if it is full a second class compartment is pretty packed. One technique is to book second, and move up to first if you can not find space enough in second, and pay the inspector a supplement.

I like the meals, but it is true that one course is enough. The beer is good.

Ben haines, London
