Prague to Amsterdam

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon and are having trouble with the last leg of our trip. We have 4 days to get from Prague to Amsterdam (our flight leaves from Amsterdam) and are stuggling with where to go and how to get there. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks! Kara

What comes before Prague? Unless it's a lot of time in the Netherlands, I would simply try to get one of the cheap flights from Prague to Amsterdam (starting at 49 euro) - - on www.smartwings.net - - and just explore the Netherlands for four days.

Whatever your decisions, congratulations on your new life together in marriage... and...

Best wishes,

Rex

Thanks Rex!

We are flying in from Dublin and spending 3 nights in Prague. We are flying on Czech Air into Prague and we have already paid for the second leg to take us to Brussels. Should we fly directly to Amsterdam and rent a car there for 4 nights or should be split it up with another stop in between? (BTW - our honeymoon is in mid-August).

Thanks for your help and kind wishes! Kara.

Sorry - I meant to say that we currently have a reservation on Czech Air from Prague to Brussels, but it would be easy to change.

Brussels gets the short end of the stick on this board and elsewhere, but I think that it can be quite lovely. If I were you, I'd visit Brussels and other places en route to Amsterdam (possibilities are Antwerp, The Hague, Delft, even Rotterdam and possibly Leiden (? I haven't been, so I'll have to check to see if this is really en route)).

But you're on your honeymoon so you may just want to relax in Amsterdam. There'll be plenty there to keep you busy. It also depends on whether you've been to Amsterdam -- if you have, you may be more interested in spending time elsewhere.

Another possibility is to spend more time in that part of Europe closer to Prague and forgo Amsterdam.

But anyway, have a great trip!

If you are going to be in Belgium you should go to Brugge. It is a medieval village and it is wonderful and would be perfect for a honeymoon. The chocolate is the best I have ever had. I would say two full days would be plenty but it would be a wonderful addition to your trip

*Don't* rent a car in Amsterdam (or in any other big city in Europe) if you are mainly interested to visit the city itself. The Netherlands has good public transport (very frequent trains between all major cities) so also no need here to rent a car if you want to visit other places.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. I think we are leaning towards flying to Amsterdam directly from Prague. Thanks for the advice on the rental car - it was something we were considering but maybe we'll just stick to the city or venture out on public transport. Thanks again! Kara
