paris rests attire
Going to dinner next week at the following places. How casual or fancy are they?Everything were we live (Lg. eastern city ) has gotten casual, men never need jackets. Is it the same in Paris? Le Grand Colbert, Ze Kitchen Galeries, Violon D'Ingres Marius & Janette. Thanks!

Of the restaurants you named, I've only eaten at Violin D'Ingres. While it's true that many men in the restaurant were wearing a jacket, my husband did not. He was wearing a very nice dress shirt and slacks, however. It wasn't a problem, and it didn't affect the service.
Women were in nice slacks/tops or dresses. I was wearing a plain black knit dress that I dressed up with a scarf. Felt very comfortable with this outfit.
Hope this helps.

At Violon D'Ingres, I wore a black silk pants suit and my husband wore a jacket and tie. Most of the men in the room were dressed the same and some women were in dresses or very nice tops with trousers or skirts.
If I were going in hot weather, I would take along a silky, light summer dress and a pair of high heels.
I also came from a large north eastern city and while some people are casual there too, when you go to a "nice" restaurant, you will find that the patrons (who are from everywhere) dress a little better.
I agree with RonZ, the Vaudeville is lovely!
Have a great time and I hope you tell us all about it when you get back!
