In general (tho' there are exceptions) 4 and 5 star hotels in London usually do not include breakfasts - whether is it a priceline booking or not.
And b'fasts in the nicer properties can be VERY expensive. But you have lots of other options.

Am I reading this correctly, the more expensive hotels in London do NOT include breakfast, while the less expensive ones (where I would stay) do include breakfast? If that is the case, I have learned something new once again from this board.

Sorry, but I beg to differ.
We Brits book rooms in the UK always on the assumption that it is on a Bed and Breakfast basis. It is true that if you've bought on-line at a discounted rate then it would possibly be for room only but it is quite misleading to say that the 4 or 5 star hotels in London don't include breakfast "whether it is a priceline booking or not".

I've never had breakfast included in a Priceline London booking. I have howeer always gotten a good recommendation for a nearby cheap-ish breakfast spot from a concierge or other hotel employee.
Most other London places I've stayed in, booked through other Internet discount services, have included breakfast.

We stayed at the Washington Hotel, in Mayfair one year and the full breakfast was part of our hotel rate.
I believe the continental breakfast at the StJames Court hotel was included also.
I believe the Russel Hotel in Piccadilly also includes breakfast.
But, I have never booked a hotel online, so maybe this is irrelevant~

Many of the upper end hotels do not include breakfasts, but SOME do. The Grosvenor's, Dorchester's, Ritz, Lanesborough's, some hiltons, etc seldom include breakfast and can charge up to £20 or more for one in their restaurants -- even more for room service.
But the VAST majority of lower priced places do include a full cooked breakfast (sometimes just a cold buffet or continental b'fast)

Janis is correct in stating that the vast majority of lower-priced places do include breakfast. I have been doing this for years on my visits to London. I get a full breakfast which takes me thru the day, skip lunch and just buy dineer, thus having to pay for only meal a day. I have kept my food costs in London to 10GBP a day. Despite what other posters tell you it can be done. I have been doing that for the 10 years I have been coming to London. To pay 20 or more GBP just for breakfast is a waste of money.
